Panch Pallav

Behind the Hans Pawan Ghat, there is a landscaped garden containing the Pancha Pallav grove in the centre of the concentric flower beds which is naturally occuring and a rare combination of five types of trees interwined and growing together as one. A tree lined pathway connects the ghat and the holy shrine of Shri Hans ji Maharaj. This is considered to be very rare phenomenon and also in the great epic like Ramayana it is described to be very auspicious. It is encircled by a concrete platform where devotees can sit and meditate in peace.

Importance of Pancha Pallav
  • The leaves of Pancha Pallav are very essential elements for all kinds of worship.

  • Its five different types of leaves are used during special and auspicious ocassions or pujas.

  • Symbolically the leaves represent our five senses. As per some scholars, it represents the five sheaths that have to be given up to reach the core in spirituality.

  • The five leaves of Pancha Pallav are to be placed on the top of a water vessel during a puja which symbolises the Goddess.
